Contribute to the ANPSThe ANPS needs assistance from members of the public to carry out the work of filling the ANPS database with information about the history, origin and meaning of Australian placenames. Any member of the public from anywhere in Australia can contribute a piece of information they have about a placename in their local area. We are appealing to members of the public to make voluntary contributions by filling in the form found at the bottom of this page. Even if you have just one piece of information about one placename, this will be a useful contribution to the ANPS. Using the form below you can contribute to the work of the ANPS by submitting information you have about a placename. The form asks you to enter:
Below you will find two examples of completed forms for a place called Mount Frome (NSW). You can look at these as models for how to complete the form. If you have any further questions about the form, please contact us (mailto:dmblair@hmn.mq.edu.au). You can fill in and submit more than one form - use a separate form for each placename you have information about. When you complete a form and submit it to the ANPS, the information you have contributed will become a part of the ANPS database. When the database has a lot of information about many placenames it will be made available, via the ANPS website, to any student, researcher or member of the public who is interested in the history, origin and meaning of Australian placenames.
